The Polar Express trip

This weekend we had a ton of fun going on the Polar Express. As some of you know already, Ethan lost his job on Tuesday so we are in the process of finding a new one, but luckily we bought these tickets back in June so we didn't have to worry about this added expense.

We drove up with our friends the Wynns and almost didn't make it to the train in time. We had to run to catch it. Just like in the movies :)

I thought it was cool that they could flip the backs of the seats so we could face each other on the train. Here we are:
With the Wynns
Logan and his daddy.
Gavin and mommy. (And Logan's finger)
They served us cookies first, which Logan gobbled up.
Then they came by with hot chocolate.
A conductor came by and punched the tickets like in the movies. Logan thought that was "real cool".
Then we got to the "North Pole"
And we all cheered, "Santa Santa!"
We were the first in our car to get the bell.
Here is Macey getting her Bell.
That not a little dinky bell, it's hard core!
Gavin got one too.
By one of the trains after our ride.
We got a cabin for the weekend so we headed back there. This is the only picture I really got of the inside. It was the perfect size.
Saturday we headed to Flagstaff to go hiking. Here's Gavin all bundled.
It was beautiful!
With good company.
Now you see him...
Now you don't.
Some cool ruins on our hike.
Stopping by a stream. This was as far as we could go with a stroller.
By some natural body of water.
After our hike we headed to Sedona. Note to self: Don't go to Sedona on a Saturday, it's real busy. But very beautiful as well. See!

Logan got a ginormous cupcake and licked off all the frosting.
We had so much fun and hope to go on the Polar Express again. Next time we'll try to be early and maybe put Logan in his PJs. So many kids had robes and slippers on it was cute. Go to our web albums if you want to see all the pictures (if this wasn't enough for you).

The Polar Express looks like so much fun! Sorry to hear about Ethan's job. Brett said there will be an OSHA construction safety investigator opening at the beginning of the year in St. Paul (that's where Brett works), in case Ethan's interested.

Where does your brother live? His house is amazing! You should ask him if those are real Barcelona's. They look real! But if they're not, I want to know where to get knock-offs!

I'm so sorry to hear about Ethan's job. Let me know if we can help in any way.

Your trip looks so fun! We are going on the Polar Express in a few weeks....we've never been and now you've made me excited! We don't get to stay at a fun cabin though, what a great idea!

It looks like you had a really great time. I love the pic of Logan with his ticket, such a cute smile and bright eyes! The cabin looks awesome, very homey and cozy. You can tell us all about it when we get there. (Blu Gramma)

I'm so jealous that you guys could do that. We were just talking about The Polar Express in AZ the other day. They don't do it here. Bummer.
We've been watching the movie everyday this past week - Dean loves it!

Sorry to hear about Ethan's job. Let us know if you're interested in TX and maybe we can help you out. He does construction, right? You might try something related, like Windswept Organix (I used to work there) an erosion control company. They are in Chandler next to the fire station and have great family values and (used to have) a strong company. It may be up your alley?? You'll be in our prayers.

How fun! I didn't even know they had stuff like that. So sorry to hear about your hubby's job, that seems to be a worry for so many people right now. Good luck in your job search!

We went on the polar express in Oregon a couple years ago, it was so fun to see how much the kids love it. Your pictures are really cute documenting it.

That's no fun about Ethan's job, Darren is going to call him either tonight or tomorrow. His dad and brother own a project scheduling business dealing mostly with commercial construction and what not, but anyway, they have had some contact with a company down there and know they are spending billions of dollars on expansion and are looking for some people. Who knows maybe something could come out of that for him. We'll for sure keep you in our thoughts though and keep our ears open for anything we think could help.
