What's a wounded girl to do?
So if I've talked to you on the phone lately, then you already know my nipping dog problem. I've tried the "yipe" noise. I've tried turning my back to her (although that's hard when she comes from behind me). This is totally like having a baby. I remember whining about how Gavin wouldn't sleep through the night, and look at him now; he's been doing it since 2 months old. I'm so impatient.
But my legs and ankles can't take it anymore! I've got little purple pinch bruises behind my knees, on my ankles, on my hands. Geez!
I took her to the Vet today; she weighs 21 lbs.
Ethan made her this temporary bed. (He told me to mention that it was made in less than an hour.) He doesn't want anyone judging his handyman skills I guess :)
And Gavin looked so cute playing in the sun this morning. With his little cellulite thighs.
Yes that's a Halloween shirt.

I would slap her little nose every time she did it...but I'm probably in the minority with that.
I highly recommend the techniques of The Dog Whisperer. His show is on National Geographic channel. They play it all the time. His website is http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/. You can find tips and advise there. You can buy his DVD's as well. They sell them everywhere. I watched the show a few times and learned so much. It's pretty simple, and the dogs respond immediately.
It sounds like she may be jealous of your kids, and therefore vying for your attention. Whatever the reason, the Dog Whisperer can fix your problem! You just have to show her who the "pack leader" is (it's you, and your kids).

Using a spray bottle with our puppy seems to be working on his nipping the kids. Anytime I'm close I grab his mouth and hold it close, while saying, "NO BITE" or I just grab the spray bottle and give one spray in his face saying the same thing.
I am no good for dog advice but I would like to say that Gavin is so cute. That first pic I think he looks so much like little baby Logan. Cute boy!

I think the "yipe" or "ouch!" method work better when they bite during play. We used that with Wrigley because we always played with his mouth open and it worked great. When he nipped during other times, we would close our hand around his snout, look him straight in the eye, say NO BITE, and keep the hold and eye contact for a few seconds. If he fought the grip, we would just tighten slightly and hold longer until he gave in - thus placing us in the Alpha Dog rank. Then AS SOON AS he plays/treats you right, BIG praise!
Ha ha cellulite highs that is so funny! I think my little Owen could be following in his footsteps very soon, he is turning into quite the chubba wubba...babies are cuter that way!
I don't think I'd have the patience for a puppy...good luck with the nipping. Gavin is so cute... love the little cellulite thighs..just love chubby babies!
